I have to admit that I'm a stickler on glasses. Perhaps it's because Nathan's glasses have broken, um, 4 times in 12 months. But recently Emma's glasses broke too. I was really surprised because 1) she's 8, 2) she's had glasses since she was 4 so she knows how important it is to be careful and 3) this year we didn't get kid's frames for her we got adult ones, which tend to be studier.
In fact, I ponied up $90 for the frames anticipating that they would last 2 years this time. Nope. For the first time in 2 years, her glasses broke. Guess where I bought all of Nate's frames and Emma's current pair? Costco. I think I might be done with their optical center...

So I meant to comment on your e-bay post.. and I don't think I ever did. Hilarious though, the chanting part - hmmm.. maybe because I can relate? ;-)
So, just so you know, we're at the 100% disaster since the stomach bug has hit our house.. sheesh. It's so hard.
I hear you on the 5 kids comments thing.
As I walked out of the grocery store a few days ago (I don't often take all 5 with me) we had an incident. The 3 girls all had little matching dresses on and the boys were both dressed to a T (I wish I could say this is how we always go out... don't tell my husband!) So anyway, we got lots of smiles.. not usual. They were fantastic the whole trip. I thought, wow.. a job well done. Everybody happy, Mom happy with no rude comments until our way out the parking lot. 2 women with a baby are going in and right as they past me (they didn't even have the decency to wait till they got inside!) they said "Holy $*#!, why would you have so many kids!!!?"
Expletives in front of children?? And to speak disparagingly of my own kids so they could hear? I almost turned on my heel and told them what for... except I decided not to ruin a perfectly good outing (that and suddenly hauling one of those car carts with 3 children in it lots of groceries and 2 children hanging on the sides in another direction is no small task). But I tell you what - if I see those ladies ever again!!!
For the record - if we had kids' glasses, they'd have been broken a bazillion times by now. I can hardly keep track of my own glasses staying in one piece. But it looks as though glasses may be a real possibility for our kids... yikes. One more thing to keep track of! How do you do it?

Oh, glasses. The bain of my existence. Nothing like a good glasses hunt to get the blood pumping in the morning, you know racing around to find 'em before the school bus arrives...
FWIW, our first pair was broken within 45 minutes of coming home. After that, I bought 3 pairs of "magic twist" brand frames with warranties on lenses and frames. They have lasted a year. Well,er, except for the pair that the dog chewed...
That is a super cute photo!! Thankfully I have not had to so the glasses thing yet. Sounds like no fun at all.
Nathan is so cute! I love the resurrection comment. That's strange Emma's adult glasses didn't hold up better. Sorry!
He looks so cute! I got glasses when I was 7. Thanks to Lasik I'm glasses free. My two oldest had Lasik this fall. It is amazing what Doctors can do now.
