So after getting all excited to share my career dream with you, I kinda copped out by just printing it on one line of the last post. It was the one that said "this had been my big dream lately" on the line.
I got myself all hyped up to do organizational behavior consulting. I have a list of 20 classes that I want to take at UVU, just for fun. Then I found out it would cost over $600 a class. I was disappointed, but undaunted, so I was a trying to figure out how to get that money so I could take a class next semester. Then I talked to Wendell about it, who said, "Who would hire you?" and I got really deflated.
Then I talked to my mom and said, "If I want to take a class would you be disappointed with me?" She said kinda. Then she came around to saying that she didn't care as long as she didn't have to babysit. (I was hoping she'd be willing to babysit for 1-2 hours a week when Wendell wasn't there.)
So, I just lost all hope. I know, anti-climatic, huh?

What exactly does an organizational behavior consultant do?
Your blog is great! I haven't had time to read all of it, but look forward to doing so.
Today was great, thanks for coming up with something Mom's need! Maybe you could market and consult on something of that nature. We are out there and ideas like today's sometimes happen, but, follow through seems to be a problem. Just a thought.
Jenna, it's hard when the people closest to you shoot your dreams down. Next summer is still a little ways off. I think you should keep working towards your goals but who knows what may turn up along the way. I'm learning that when I'm prayerful, my actions seem to blindly lead me to my answers. Hang there!
Do you by chance live near Lehi?
Don't lose hope yet. You DO have other options, you know. For starters, you only need a sitter for 2 kids (unless the class is after school hours...??) I know of lots of young mothers who are trying to take classes at the same time. Where I'm at, there is a lot of trading; two mothers juggle and arrange class schedules so that the kids are covered.
Can you find someone in your ward or stake who might need a trade?
Jenna TAKE A CLASS!!!!!! You really should and you would do great at it. I will help out with babysitting where I can. If you could find one on Tue or Thur in the mornings I will watch your kids. And if it's in the afternoon I can ask Glen if he will watch them.....DO IT DO IT DO IT. Tell your mom if she will go half on the tuition then she will not have to babysit. Or see if you can qualify for a grant. Did I say do it because I really think you would like it so DO IT!
LOL, Wendell tends to be a downer about your dream jobs I've noticed.
A few of my friends are signing on with Primerica, when I heard what it was I thought of you and your dream to help people with their finances.
Nicole,
An Org B consultant works with businesses to help with interpersonal communication and employee motivation. They would consult on hiring, compensation packages, benefits, management techniques, leadership and more.
Shahara, hmmm.... There is something I AM qualified for...
Jen,
You are right about my dear hubby. He didn't used to be this way, but it's changed recently. Honestly, I think it was his last promotion. His raise has gone to his head and he doesn't want me to work anymore, even if I want to.
I've considered Primerica, but I don't think it's for me. I have a friend who does Primerica rabidly, which is a huge turn off. I know that since he's started he gotten into a lot of debt.
I'm right there with you girl. I've decided I want to go to nursing school even though I have degrees in English and Interior Design. I love being a mommy, but the staying home part can't last forever, right?
Hang in there Jenna, you will find where you are supposed to be!
Don't let other people tell you know. You know what's best for you! Everybody needs some time to work on themselves whether it's with hobbies, learning, or just some free time alone!! Go for it!
